November 2018 Roundup

NOvember 18th was a good month, and after the last couple of months its been nice. This month I watched “The Haunting at Hill House”, and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen, and definitely the best horror television series I have seen. It is less about ghosts than it is about the struggles of a dysfunctional family, which makes the show more human and relatable. The new Lil Peep album came out around the same time as last year, and although it’s impossible to tell if it’s what he would have made, I really liked it, and “Fingers may be the most musically complete song he has ever released. Lil Peep has been one of the most influential artists in my life.

I also saw Waterparks live in concert at Arizona Pete’s, and they were incredible. IDKHOW and SUper Whatevr opened for them, and they were both really talented. I have been really into Waterparks since this summer, so it was great to see them in concert was incredible. They played all of my favorite songs, even “We Need to Talk” which wouldn’t normally be a concert song, but they added a nice guitar part to it to make it work. I also listened to Savage Hands, a small band from Maryland, and also a lot of Real Friends, The Story so Far, and Belmont, which was a lot of pop punk. I also found a band called Sorority Noise, when I saw the music video for their song “No Halo”. It crazy when you see something and you know that that will influence you so much, it was one of the most moving music videos and songs i have seen. I knew I had to play it, so I learned it on the guitar. I also listened to a lot of Remo Drive, who are more indie rock/emo. I learned their song “Heartstrings” on the guitar, and also started playing with Alec. It’s a little different with a drummer, but it’s not that hard.

I also listened to even more Neck Deep, but that’s pretty usual. Davidson, Will, and I have started a film club at Wesleyan, and it’s going well, we have about 40 members, which makes it the biggest club in Wesleyan. I also went on the yearly D.C. trip for leadership. I read “The Long Walk” by Stephen King. It was really good, and I’m glad that I chose it for my English assignment. In D.C. I mostly ate with the sophmores at pizza places or Chick-fil-a in the mornings, but besides that, I tried to hang out with Ian and the seniors because it’s the last trip I have with them. Ian and I sat next to each other in the conferences, which were super boring, but sometimes funny. I also hung out with a lot of the other seniors, mostly Helena and Maddie, who we got dinner with one night. Ian and I both overall enjoyed it.

I also spent part of thanksgiving in Virginia, and it was kind of tense, mostly due to grandma and dad fucking up their relationship with Ian, but that’s what they always do I went through Pop’s stuff, and it’s really interesting what you find out about someone after they died. If I had known he was as passionate about music as he was, I would have talked to him about it. On the last day of November I had a date with Faith, and it was pretty good, I made out with her, which was ok, i'm not much for tongueing it lol. Ian and I hung out a lot this month, which was nice, since we don’t have cross country. I played a lot of Black Ops 4 this month. NOvember was a really good month, I’m glad that halfway throught the year is good.
