February 2019 Roundup

February 2018 was a great month, way better than January. It had its ups and downs, I broke up with my girlfriend Faith, since I didn’t think we meshed together anymore. She is very bitter about it, but what can you do, I haven’t said anything unkind and don’t hold any ill will against her. I saw some great movies and read some great books this month. Polar was a great John Wick-style film that my brother and I loved a lot, its not great but it is super entertaining. We also watched a lot of true crime documentaries including Ted Bundy, Evil Genius, and Weiner, all which were very good.

I went over to David’s house to watch the superbowl, which was really fun, and I took some kratom and it was even more fun. Joe Rogan had a lot of great guests this month, including Travis Barker and Henry Rollins. I listened to a lot of Blink-182 this month, mostly Enema of the State, which is a great album. I’m still listening to a fuckton of PUP, and it is still not growing old. I also delved into the hardcore and emo scene with The Story so Far’s Proper Dose album, which is a more heartfelt and less angry TSSF album. CItizen and Molly’s Worst Enemy are also amazing Emo Hardcore REvival bands. I listened to “The Night I Drove Alone” and instantly knew I had to learn it on guitar

Alec and I took a lazy Sunday to skateboard all over the church, and it was really nice and relaxing.Parker came over so Ian, Parker, and I watched a lot of livestreamers and fails, including Canada's Worst Driver. In Movie Club we played some movie kahoots and watched Nacho Libre. I got strep throat and had to take off work and three days from school, which I spent playing guitar, watching movies, and playing a new game called Apex Legends. I watched both of the American Pie movies and they are awesome. They are the perfect 2000’s movie, and the soundtrack is Blink-182, which is awesome.

Miller came over and we got some Sheetz and played guitar together. He is surprisingly good at jamming for how long he has been playing. My guitar teacher introduced me to Face to Face, a great 90’s punk band. They are so far ahead of their time, and I’ve learned six of their songs. Although the guitar is simple, the lyrics and vocal melodies are great. I also played guitar with my coworker Ethan, and he showed me how to play riffs in Drop D. I learned a lot about playing metal that night. Then my car got stuck in his lawn and we had to get a wrecker.

I started track this month as well. My dad and I hadn’t been talking, and then out of the blue he sent me a song. It was “Meet Me in the Woods” by Lord Huron. Unbeknownst to him, that was the song I had listened to when I was in Charlotte this summer. I took a smoke break and listened to it again for the first time in a while. I realized that in the end, no matter what he does, I’m going to wish for things to work out, I’m trying my best to fix everything. Overall it was a good month, and I am ready for track season and my birthday in March.
